Challenge
- Issue: The community in Warder, Wajir County, faced severe drought conditions, leading to a critical lack of water necessary to sustain life and livelihoods.
- Need: Immediate and sustainable access to a reliable, clean water source was required to restore normalcy and resilience to the affected households.
Solution
Action: Geo Blue Engineering, in strategic partnership with the Kenya Red Cross, was contracted to implement a comprehensive water access project.
Execution:
Drilling: Successfully drilled a deep borehole to tap into a reliable aquifer.
Equipping: Installed all necessary borehole components and pumping infrastructure.
Power Source: Integrated a solar-powered system to ensure the borehole pump operates independently and sustainably, minimizing running costs.
Outcome
Impact: The project successfully transitioned the community “from drought to hope.”
Beneficiaries: The new, reliable water source now directly benefits over 600 households in the Warder community.
Result: Restored essential water supply, stabilized livelihoods, and improved the overall quality of life for the residents.
