Challenge
Musoma Primary School was reliant on a faulty hand pump, which provided an unreliable and inefficient water supply, hindering daily operations and impacting the local community.
To upgrade the existing system with a sustainable, reliable, and high-volume water solution to effectively serve the school’s large student population and surrounding households.
Solution
Geo Blue Engineering was commissioned to modernize the school’s water infrastructure.
System Upgrade: The faulty hand pump was removed and the existing borehole infrastructure was upgraded.
Solar Integration: A high-efficiency solar-powered pumping system was installed to replace the manual pump, ensuring zero-cost operation and consistent water delivery.
Distribution: A new tap water distribution point was established to manage and facilitate easy access to the water supply for both the school and the community.
Outcome
The project successfully led to the empowerment of education and the local community by securing a stable water source.
The upgraded borehole now serves over 2,000 students attending the school and 800 households in the surrounding Busia County community.
The beneficiaries now have reliable access to clean water, significantly improving hygiene, health, and operational capacity for the school.
