Challenge
Don Bosco East Africa’s institutional development in Siaya County was hampered by a lack of a reliable water source, characterized by no existing piped water connection and unreliable rainfall.
A sustainable and independent water supply system was required to meet both the immediate domestic needs of the institution and the long-term demands of future institutional expansion and agricultural (irrigation) requirements.
Solution
Geo Blue Engineering partnered with Don Bosco East Africa to develop a robust, sustainable water supply system from the ground up.
Feasibility: Our team first conducted a comprehensive hydrogeological survey to accurately locate and assess the most viable underground water source.
Development: Based on the survey results, a borehole was developed to harness the reliable groundwater.
Scope: The system was specifically designed to handle the dual demand of domestic use and irrigation, ensuring maximum utility.
Outcome
The collaboration secured a reliable, sustainable source of water crucial for the institution’s operational continuity and future growth.
The permanent water source meets the daily needs of the Don Bosco East Africa institution and supports its related agricultural/irrigation activities.
The new water supply system removes a critical barrier to development, securing the foundation for current and future institutional expansion in Siaya County.
